Match Level bands
The public display of a rating is the Match Level: a half-point band such as 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, or 4.5. Bands keep public pages readable and avoid implying false precision — two players in the same band are expected to have a competitive match.
Confidence Score
Alongside the band, Sports Axiom tracks how settled the rating is and surfaces it as a Confidence Score bucket. Confidence rises with official results and falls with inactivity. A rating with low confidence is marked provisional so organizers and opponents know to read it loosely.
Provisional and inactive states
- Provisional — a new or newly returned rating still dominated by the Self Seed or too few results. Shown with a provisional badge on public pages.
- Inactive — a player with no official results for an extended stretch. The level is retained, but its confidence decays until new results land.
What organizers see
Organizers see the same Match Level band and confidence bucket players see. Seeding tools lean on the band plus confidence — never on hidden numbers players cannot inspect.
